Show your work, Austin Kleon

show your workShow your work, by Austin Kleon
I’ve recently just read this inspirational piece by Austin Kleon which focuses on getting your work out there, by using a range of models and ways of networking yourself. Most of his advice is to get your work out there is by the internet, sharing everything that you do to build up an audience. Austin talks of several ways in his book about stealing and the process of work accumulating together to create masterpieces, now this can link in to any creative strand of the art world, he explains In depth that when the likes of Picasso was around it wasn’t just him, it would of be a whole network of people who together and shared ideas. Austin talks a lot about giving and social Medias, as the 21st century takes its strides the power of the internet is undeniable. From Facebook to WordPress, all these engines have everything you need to show your creativity and to get discovered.
Be an amateur! This is the only way you can truly get to grips with what you are passionate about, this is due to learning, you have to learn everything and this can lead to the most amazing work. Here are just a few things that inspired me from his book “ Share the things that excite you”, “if you don’t go to work, you’ll never leave work”, “share something small every day” and “ Be and AMATURE!”. This book is a great read and I would recommend it to everyone who has lost the spark within their work, you can do anything if you put your mind to it, be an amateur and share what you know!

Thinking outside the box

Ive decided to expand my global reach with my art work, and I did this by creating a Behance Online Portfolio which will get my work across the world hopefully, which will also open up more opportunity for myself, also the work that gets uploaded from other artists is any excuse to get inspired.

ReFocus

Now that the 3M commission has passed and everyone that has been chosen has been finalised, I have realised that I can refocus my studies on what I really want to do. As third year is fast approaching I feel like I can focus on what I really want to do after my course. Mens T-shirt fashion is something that has always been something I have taken great attention too for a long time now, the forever changing designs and patterns that accompany these t-shirts are always changing and seems to be taking influence from different years and innovating them to fit the style thats in at the current time. I am going to look at the t-shirt industry thoroughly and how style has changed and also how the visual attracts us in to actually buy them, is it anything to do with how fashion is advertised on TV? celebrities and advertising and also whats in, these things are the type of stuff I will look at the current patterns and colours, I will contact a t-shirt designer in the summer and try to gain some experience ready to hopefully propel myself into the scene. From this point I am going to focus on pattern and colour looking at the sutff that can fit in with the season that fashion seems to always follow.

From the intial sketch I drew out me and axl wanted to make the peice into a sculpture which looks like this, its very small to start with but the basis is that the red ball represents 3m and the green balls represent marketing, innovation, creativity and growth. from this this is what we created which I then later layered over the orignal drawing.
